The 24-inch
diameter Bellevue/Issaquah Pipeline (BIP) was designed to supply regional water to the City of
Issaquah (Issaquah) and the Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District
(Plateau). Portions of the Pipeline were owned by the City of Bellevue
(Bellevue), Issaquah, and the Plateau.
In December 2004, Issaquah transferred ownership to Cascade of its
portion of the pipeline located from the point of connection with
Bellevue's portion of the 24-inch water main at the intersection
of 163rd and Newport Way in Bellevue to its end located at, and
including, the first meter vault(s) north of the "pigging" station
on 1st Avenue NE in Issaquah. In May 2006, the title of the City
of Bellevue's portion of the Pipeline (i.e. the 24-inch water transmission
main that conveys water from the Seattle Inlet at the Eastside Reservoir
to the intersection of 163rd and Newport Way in Bellevue) was transferred
to Cascade.
Cascade has contractual agreements with the Cities of Bellevue and
Issaquah for operating and maintaining the BIP; Bellevue will provide
for the operation and maintenance of the BIP facilities
from the Seattle Inlet at the Eastside Reservoir to the intersection
of 163rd and Newport Way in Bellevue.
Issaquah will provide for the operation and maintenance of the BIP
facilities from the intersection of 163rd and Newport Way in Bellevue to its end located at, and including, the first meter
vault(s) north of the "pigging" station on 1st Avenue NE in Issaquah.
