Lake Tapps WA – Cascade Water Alliance, new owner of Lake Tapps, invites the public to an Open House on February 10, 2010, at the North Tapps Middle School from 6 to 8 p.m. to meet Cascade Board members and staff and to learn about the future of the lake.
Cascade purchased Lake Tapps from Puget Sound Energy (PSE) on December 18, 2009, for use as a municipal water supply source. Cascade will operate the lake for people, fish and water, committing to keep the lake at recreational levels during the summer months. Agreements with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians and Muckleshoot Indian Tribe ensure in stream flows and enhanced fisheries.
At the Open House meet Joe Mickelson, Cascade’s Lake Tapps Manager, and Lloyd Warren, Chair of the Cascade Board of Directors, along with other Cascade staff and board members. Visit information stations to learn about the history and future of Lake Tapps, Cascade’s long range water supply plan, water stewardship, and more. “Cascade wants to meet and hear from our new neighbors at Lake Tapps,” says Chuck Clarke, CEO. “Please join us on February 10 and bring your questions, ideas and suggestions.”
For more information or if you have questions and are not able to attend call 425.453.0930, or toll free 1.877.299.0930.
Cascade, state and Pierce County leaders, the cities of Auburn, Bonney Lake, Buckley and Sumner, the Tribes, members of the Lake Tapps Task Force, and the Lake Tapps Community Council worked tirelessly to secure the future of Lake Tapps. In the end, all interested parties worked collaboratively to secure not only Lake Tapps, but future water supplies, environmental stewardship, and recreational opportunities.
Cascade Water Alliance is a nonprofit corporation of five cities (Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond, and Tukwila) and three water districts (Covington Water District, Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District and the Skyway Water and Sewer District) that provides water to its almost 400,000 residents and more than 22,000 businesses.
